20 minute studies

Class on Wednesday consisted of working on our large abstracts
or doing timed 20 minute studies.
The first study I did I worked on mark making.
The second study I painted a bird's nest with no thought to color, only value.
And time.
The result was so free.
That's what 20 minutes will do for you.

Textured Landscape

This is a small 6 x 6 work that I did in two or three passes, letting it dry between visits.
I wanted strong notan and interesting edges.
A variety of greens adds to the mixture!
Palette knife and brush.

Spring blossoms

California is bursting with blossoms.
Here is my version.
It is painted over another  work giving it texture and sparkle.

Nasturtiums 3

This was painted early in the year. Can you believe it is March?
Way to easy to lose track of time.
We have been learning about layers and reentering our works.
Glazing is an important part of this.
Believe me, this was reentered several times.
If there is a Nasturtiums 4, it will be very abstract.
And my nasturtiums are blooming again!
