The Daily Paintworks Challenge this week is to paint a spot where you find relaxation. It could be a scent, a location, special music. Different for each of us.
My mind went immediately to the view from my studio.
Always different atmosphere, always calming.
This morning it was full of neutral greens.

Playing with Gouache

Away from the studio, playing with water based materials
and oil pastels.
Trying for outside of my comfort zone.
Love the neutrals above.

I tried to abstract the little red barn from the other day.
Definitely outside of my comfort zone!
But this little detail works for me!
Layers work.

The Challenge

The challenge was....what is the view when standing at your easel.
Paint and more paint.
Tubes all squished and full of shadows.

Little red barn

This is an older painting that just never made it to Daily Paintworks.
So today it will.
For me, interesting geometric shapes.
It is a small oil painting, only 4 x 6.

Here is the link to the Daily Paintworks auction
Just copy and paste!

Have a great Sunday!

At the end of class on Wednesday  I did a quick abstract with the remaining colors on my palette.
Who knew that one of my doors or windows would appear.
The painting works from any direction which makes it
all the more fun.

Five flowers

My winter painting has centered around flowers.
Now that it is January, that is not making much sense to me.
No wandering in the garden for a set-up to paint. LOL
Love the movement and the texture.
Now showing at Gallery One in Petaluma.

This little painting is off to Gallery One in Petaluma.
I love the warmth and the gentle way these flowers arrange themselves.
