Keeping a Cold at Bay

This  post refers to my recipe for health in the winter.
I have consumed countless Satsuma tangerines.
Delicious and healthy.

Sending fondest wishes for a happy, healthy new year
to each and all of my blogging friends.

Warms Ups

Trying to get back in the swing of things.
Feel the paint.
Play with shapes.
Choose a palette.

What did I learn?
Those little snowdrops are very hard to paint!
And I still love vases, vessels of all sorts.

Purple and orange abstraction

This painting was done sometime in November. It is a class work with the assignment
being to take a reference photo and make an abstraction using the photo for inspiration.
I used a photo of the barns below our property.
You have seen them many times in red and green.
I first developed my notan.
Then I loosely painted the scene.
I then turned the painting and worked on it from different directions.
As you can see, I also used other instruments to make marks.
Great fun.
I have not painted for several weeks but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I will pick up a brush again soon!

Single bloom

One single blossom sitting way out in front proved to be a challenge.
The answer was to add layers.
My favorite part?
The vase!

Abstract Process

Last week's class consisted of a choice. Paint shoes, and there was a wonderful shoe set-up or do an abstract. Abstract sounded good to me. I needed the free feeling.
So layer one went on easily.........oh, there's a landscape. Paint it out.
Turn, paint.
Oh, there is a swimmer rising. Paint it out.
If it really wants to be there it will reappear.
Turn, paint, turn, paint.
Then the painting above emerged. I only needed the stroke of the hair and the stroke of the face
to complete the work.
What a fun process!
