More Pears

More high key. Just keep pushing those pears!

Numbers 2 and 3

Number two interested me because when I added the third pear I got such a strong straight line going down the left side of the pears. This is a good contrast to the curvy lines and fulness of that pear on the right. The question remained about strong values. Lights light enough?

So a high key painting results from the above question. These lights are light! Here I am getting more of the juicy feeling that comes with pears. Love the play of warm and cool.

And why renew?  I am feeling like I lost the flow. My answer for that is to go back to the basics, paint as "daily" as I can, watch my drawing, use of color, composition with familiar objects.
Hence the pears. I have 4 done and will continue until I feel that my feet are underfoot again.

Painting larger

Here is a painting from last Wednesday. I zoomed in on the trees below our home and now see how centered they are. So, perhaps the barn saves the day?

Cleaning Up the Studio

I am on a mission to clean up the studio. Great summer project and this guy has been hanging around too long. Every so often I put another coat on him, freshening him up but now he needs to go the the Daily Paintworks Auction.
He needs to grace someone's wall.

Quick, quick

Quick, quick because this work is from last week's class and we are meeting again in one hour.
The last week has been summertime busy, crazy.

We were at a local park again and I chose to paint a scene that receded far, far into the distance.
I also underestimated how difficult that would be.

So here it is full of new strokes and a new style.
It will be fun to see if it sticks!

Busy month

Summer months are so busy. We just returned from a lovely vacation and the whole family is getting back into the swing of things.
I want to start painting more. It feels right.

Here is my entry into the Daily Paintworks Summer Challenge.
The subject is trees.
These are the trees I look at every day from my studio window.
It is a very solid grove and I just concentrated on one small section.
