That Tomato

One day I glanced down and saw this tomato on  the counter with the best vine still attached. It needed to be painted and I had not done a still life arrangement for some time.
Arranging always hard but painting fun!

The window in the barn.........

Wednesday class was at a beautiful location in the foothills to the east of Petaluma. It is a working farm, full of old buildings and lots of animals.
This barn had the most interesting shadows cast from some loose shingles on the roof.
They made it quite a challenge. In fact, quite a distraction.
Lots of instruction and I ended up with this portrait of a barn.

Roses again

What a lovely weekend. Before I indulged myself in doing nothingness I walked into the studio. It was early Friday morning and there were the three roses, still blooming away.
Isn't that a message?
I thought so.
And I think it resulted in a strong painting.

White Roses

This is a large painting, 30 x 30.
I felt so strongly that I needed to be painting larger so I just dove in.
Love the movement, the gentle beauty.
I hope you enjoy.

Vineyard Challenge

is a vineyard scene. I cropped the scene and just went for it. I do not
do vineyards so I chose a more abstract approach.

Window on Western

There is an old barn, shed, part of a water tower or building set back on Western Ave. which has the age and patina that I love. It is a place in time, weathered and old. Just up my alley.
In the window you can see several objects that have probably not been moved in ages.
Just a little slice of time, this window.
Someone's memories.

Red for Mom

Many, many years ago my mom had a beautiful rose garden.
This painting is done in her memory for the Daily Paintworks Mother's Day Challenge
Red, just love it.
Bold, free strokes, even better.

Love those reds

Last week we painted on the edge of downtown where we had a very large choice of subjects.
I found this entrance to a home with 6 different pots of flowers.
The red ones sang to me.

A figure and a rose

Last week in class, I had a model. She did not know it, but she modeled.
It was fun to be able to practice. The painting is very high key but I had to  work fast before she could finish her painting. It was fun to tackle a figure.

This is for the rose challenge this week on Daily Paintworks.
If you go to the site, you then go to the Challenge page. It is fun to see what everyone does.
Personally I thought this a very difficult rose to do. It was dusty colored. There must be a fine line between dusty and muddy! LOL

still life

An apple and two lemons. The shapes are getting better and so is the texture.
That little lemon on the right has personality!

River Bend

Here is my river scene done on a 6 x 12 inch panel. The same fresh colors presented with more of the river. We had such a good time painting that day.
