December Tree

Here is another version as I study the same subject, the tree outside of the studio. It has beautiful light on it early in the morning when I am down there. It still has those burnt looking leaves.

My goal was to deepen the leaf colors on the left to see if that gave the tree more form.
That the rest of the painting abstracted was fine with me.
I also tried to stick with a blue-orange palette.

Whenever you limit yourself in some way you find out how much learning those limits create.

  1. I admire your exploration of one subject. You are disciplined! Your tree is the star here. It stands very well as the focus. I like that you used a limited palette as well.
