I played with the painting I posted yesterday as the big division in the center bothered me. I think this is better, not sure about best. I still love the feeling of the work so I know I am on the right track.
I worked on four different paintings today. Three were part of the learning curve and this is the fourth. I love how the complimentary colors work.........blue and orange trees are fine with me but now the painting is divided and I will work on joining the two areas tomorrow. It was fun to paint.......
I will be working on barns in the near future. Shapes, colors, values.
I did this one a few weeks ago. Love the light as the sun lowers in the sky......probably around 4 in the afternoon, winter for sure.
I do not think I posted it before and I want to you to enjoy it as tomorrow I will post another version. Each presentation stresses something different. Tomorrow will be shapes.
Tuesday is the day I spend with my five year old grandson and he loves art projects, so my day did get to include painting. We each has a long narrow board and just played with hearts. I selected acrylics for ease of clean up. Understatement, for sure.
Here is the painting from my last posting two layers later. Simple, clean, exciting. Strong shapes. And I am still learning all about the whole thing. So the question is does the strong light shape outshine the red barns...........and is the dark shape on the right side correct yet?
Another barn I painted from behind our home....in a similar manner. Simple shapes. Another road traveled.
And why is the lower left my favorite part of the painting?
I have been wanting to paint this friendly face that stares at me each afternoon over the fence for some time now.. It is my first bovine painting and such fun. Very loose for sure. Got lots of the texture by painting over an old work.

This is a 10 inch process piece. It will go to class with me tomorrow and probably get completely painted out. Just to see what emerges next. When I paint a piece this way it is painted with each of the four sides up at one time or another during the sitting. What do you see?
You have seen this scene before. I was trying to isolate it into just four areas. My goal is for it to be higher key and looser. I have visited it four times and see it might be four more!
