Pansies

This is my first up close look at the pansies in the garden. It is done over an old painting which I sanded and then let peek through here and there.

My entry for the gift challenge this week ( do a painting of a gift someone gave you) is this blue Fiesta Ware vase given to me by a dear friend. There was something so comforting about forming those arcs in the main shape. A stack of other 6 inch paintings to the side.

  1. You captured the colors great in the pansies. I found that particular color hard to replicate.
I love the contrast of slant of the angle of the paintings in the fiesta painting. Great isea.

  2. thanks Julie. I use a very traditional palette, close to the one Carol Marine has in her artbytes, but find that Gamblin's purple is necessary along with Cad red light and quin. rose or magenta. They pop. Painting has been more fun than ever this week.
